Geometry and Trigonometry is about 15% of SAT Math, 5 to 7 of the 44 questions. It is the smallest domain and the one students worry about most, usually because it is the furthest from what they studied recently.
It is also the only domain the reference sheet helps with, and it helps less than students expect. Areas and volumes are handed to you. Circles, arcs, radians and trig are not.

The skills in this domain
- Area and volume — The formulas are given. The proportionality rule, k times bigger means k² the area and k³ the volume, is not.
- Lines, angles and triangles — Parallel lines, similar triangles, and the angle relationships nobody writes down.
- Right triangles and trigonometry — Pythagoras, the two special triangles, and sine, cosine and tangent, which are not on the sheet.
- Circles — The equation of a circle, completing the square to find a centre, arcs and sectors.

What the reference sheet does not give you
The sheet covers area, circumference, the Pythagorean theorem, the two special right triangles, and five volume formulas. Everything below is on the test and not on the sheet:
- The equation of a circle, and completing the square to find its centre and radius
- Arc length and sector area as a fraction of the whole circle
- Sine, cosine and tangent, and the fact that sin(x) = cos(90 − x)
- Converting between degrees and radians
- Similar triangles and the proportion that follows from them
- The proportionality rule for scaling areas and volumes
