Stem-and-leaf plot worksheet
The stem is every digit but the last and the leaf is the last digit, so 4 | 7 is 47. The leaves are already in order, which makes the median and the range a matter of counting, and the key says how to read a row.

How to do these
Stems and leaves: . Find the median
- The values are 21, 24, 30, 35, 35.
- There are five, so the median is the third.
The answer is .
Where students go wrong
Skipping a stem with no leaves, or reading the leaves as whole values. A leaf of 5 on the stem 3 is 35, not 5, and an empty stem means no data landed there, not that the row does not exist.
Also called stem and leaf, stem and leaf plot, stem-and-leaf diagram or reading a stem and leaf plot.
