Looking for a PrepScholar SAT alternative? If the part of the SAT you need help with is Math, the short answer is: Sigma Prep is $49 a month instead of PrepScholar's $397 or more, it has 24 full-length Math tests built to mirror the official Bluebook tests, and every question comes with a video solution. If you need Reading and Writing as well, PrepScholar covers both sections and Sigma Prep does not. Prices below are as of October 2026, from each company's own site.
Sigma Prep is ours, so weigh that. We have tried to say plainly where PrepScholar is the better fit.

When PrepScholar is the better choice
If you need both sections in one program, PrepScholar does that and we do not. Same if you want live classes or a tutoring package bundled in, or if a score guarantee is what gets you to commit to a whole course. PrepScholar's lessons are thorough and the program is built to be followed start to finish.
When Sigma Prep is the better choice
If Math is the section holding your score back, you are paying for a lot of Reading and Writing you do not need. Sigma Prep goes deeper on Math alone: every one of the 7,300+ questions has a video, the 24 tests are built question for question from the official ones so a retake is a fresh measurement, and after each test it builds a practice set from the exact skills you missed. It is also month to month, so a student with eight weeks left pays for two months, not a year.
The PrepScholar guarantee vs ours
PrepScholar promises at least 160 points, or a 1530 if you start at 1370 or above. But there are a lot of hoops to jump through, and missing any one of them disqualifies you. From their terms:
- Complete every assigned lesson and every practice test.
- Take an official SAT within 60 days of finishing the program.
- Have College Board mail your scores to them (digital score reports do not count).
- Request the refund within 360 days of buying.
- One refund per household.
Ours is simple: 14 days, full refund, no questions asked. No lessons to finish, no test to sit, no scores to mail.
The free alternative
Before paying anyone, use what is free: Bluebook's eight official tests and the College Board Question Bank. Our Bluebook walkthroughs explain every official Math question with a clip, also free. Paid prep is for when that runs out or stops moving your score.
