Every math question on official Practice Test 5, solved start to finish in real time. No cuts, no script, and wherever a problem can be killed in Desmos instead of on paper, that is the route you will see.
For most students Test 5 is the second full test they take, and that makes it the first one that measures change instead of just position. One test tells you where you are. Two tell you whether your prep is working.
So before you watch anything, put your Test 4 and Test 5 misses side by side. The questions you missed on both sittings are not bad luck, they are types you do not recognize yet, and those are the ones to jump to in the video. If you have not done Test 4 yet, start with the Test 4 walkthrough, where we also lay out the full method for reviewing a practice test properly.
Then drill what the comparison exposed. The engine is the same one behind the full 800 plan: miss, understand why, repeat the type until you recognize it on sight.
All 44 Practice Test 5 Math Questions, One at a Time
Every math question from official Practice Test 5, in order, as it appears in the walkthrough. Each one has the correct answer, how it's solved, and a clip of just that question.
Module 1
1
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 1Linear functions
Answer D
How it's solved: A reading question. "Per" signals the slope and the added amount is the constant, so match them in slope-intercept form.
2
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 2Ratios, rates, proportional relationships, and units
Answer A
How it's solved: Dimensional analysis: multiply by the conversion factor so the original units cancel, then let Desmos do the arithmetic.
3
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 3Lines, angles, and triangles
Answer C
How it's solved: Spot the vertical angles, which are always equal, so no calculation is needed.
4
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 4Linear functions
Answer 11
How it's solved: Set the function equal to the total cost in Desmos and read the x-value of the solution.
5
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 5Linear equations in one variable
Answer C
How it's solved: Type the equation into Desmos to solve for x, then evaluate the expression the question asks for instead of stopping at x.
6
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 6Percentages
Answer 10
How it's solved: "Of" means multiply, so write the percent as a decimal and multiply by the total.
7
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 7One-variable data: distributions and measures of center and spread
Answer A
How it's solved: Use the Desmos mean function on the original list, then add the new value and compare. A much smaller value pulls the mean down.
8
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 8Linear inequalities in one or two variables
Answer D
How it's solved: Graph each answer choice in Desmos and keep the one whose slope direction and shading side match the picture.
9
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 9Equivalent expressions
Answer B
How it's solved: By hand, distribute the negative across the second group and combine like terms.
10
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 10Linear functions
Answer D
How it's solved: Enter both points in a Desmos table and run a linear regression to get the line's equation.
11
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 11Nonlinear equations in one variable and systems of equations in two variables
Answer 30 or -30
How it's solved: Rename the variable to x so Desmos accepts the equation, then click the solutions on the graph. Either one is accepted.
12
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 12Linear equations in two variables
Answer 4.51 or 451/100
How it's solved: Interpretation only. Identify which variable stands for the smaller item and read its coefficient as the price.
13
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 13Nonlinear functions
Answer A
How it's solved: In an exponential model the front coefficient is the initial value, and the starting point means the input is zero.
14
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 14Nonlinear functions
Answer D
How it's solved: Adding outside the function shifts the graph up, so track where the curve levels off and pick the graph raised by that amount.
15
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 15Nonlinear equations in one variable and systems of equations in two variables
Answer D
How it's solved: Algebra: divide first, then move the variable term across so it stays positive. Desmos can confirm by substituting test numbers for the constants.
16
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 16Area and volume
Answer 4205
How it's solved: An open-top cube has five square faces, so the surface area is five times the side squared.
17
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 17Nonlinear equations in one variable and systems of equations in two variables
Answer 18
How it's solved: Enter the absolute value equation in Desmos, zoom in on the two solution lines, and add them.
18
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 18Circles
Answer A
How it's solved: Type the expression into Desmos in radian mode and match the decimal to a choice.
19
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 19Equivalent expressions
Answer D
How it's solved: Assign sample values to the constants in Desmos, evaluate the expression, and test each choice until one matches.
20
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 20Circles
Answer B
How it's solved: Graph the circle in Desmos, then draw a vertical line at each choice and keep the one that touches the circle.
21
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 21Nonlinear functions
Answer D
How it's solved: Volume is length times width times height. Since the length exceeds the width, write the width as the length minus that amount.
22
Practice Test 5, Module 1, Question 22Nonlinear functions
Answer D
How it's solved: Run a custom Desmos regression with the given point and a made-up point satisfying the inequality, then test each choice with the resulting function.
Module 2
1
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 1Right triangles and trigonometry
Answer B
How it's solved: Apply the Pythagorean theorem in Desmos with the hypotenuse as x, then compare the decimal with each choice.
2
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 2Linear functions
Answer B
How it's solved: Put both points into a Desmos table and run a linear regression.
3
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 3Inference from sample statistics and margin of error
Answer B
How it's solved: Treat the margin of error as plus or minus around the estimate to build the plausible range.
4
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 4Linear inequalities in one or two variables
Answer A
How it's solved: Subtract the fixed extra load from the limit first, then use less than or equal to since the limit is a maximum.
5
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 5Systems of two linear equations in two variables
Answer C
How it's solved: Graph both equations in Desmos and click the intersection point.
6
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 6One-variable data: distributions and measures of center and spread
Answer 29
How it's solved: Range is largest minus smallest, done mentally since Desmos has no range function.
7
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 7Systems of two linear equations in two variables
Answer D
How it's solved: Turn each sentence into a linear equation in two unknowns, graph both in Desmos, and read the coordinate for the quantity asked.
8
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 8Nonlinear equations in one variable and systems of equations in two variables
Answer D
How it's solved: Graph both equations in Desmos and count the intersection points. None means no solutions.
9
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 9Nonlinear equations in one variable and systems of equations in two variables
Answer A
How it's solved: Graph the system in Desmos, click both intersection points, and pick the larger x-value.
10
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 10Linear functions
Answer -10
How it's solved: Use the slope to step from the given intercept to a second point, regress in a Desmos table, and click the y-intercept.
11
Practice Test 5, Module 2, Question 11Linear equations in one variable
Answer A
